Risky Business
Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been diving in headfirst.
Literally.
When I was 3, I did a front flip off the side of a pool straight into the deep end. I almost gave my dad a heart attack.
At 12, I did the same thing off a boat ramp and almost gave myself a heart attack when I cut my knee open.
Have I learned since then?
Absolutely not.
I keep diving in headfirst because the biggest risks give the biggest rewards.
Flipping into that pool taught me to swim.
Landing on my knee taught me how to land on my feet from then on.
I’ll keep taking risks because risks force me to grow.
But that doesn’t mean I’m careless about it. My risk-taking has become more calculated over the years. (As an entrepreneur, it’s kind of trained into me now).
I’ve learned to do risky things despite the feeling that I shouldn’t move forward.
This is a fundamental mindset shift that I think all successful entrepreneurs had to make at some point in their lives.
Instead of being paralyzed by the fear of everything that could go wrong, you could anticipate the issues and plan for them.
You’re changing your mindset from reactive, reacting to your fear, to proactive, taking action before your fear comes true.
Instead of risk-aversion, doing everything you can to avoid the risk, you’re focusing on risk management, taking action to make the risk as small as possible.
You have to let go of the things you can’t control and take control of those that you can.
This is even more true now, in these uncertain times.
So many businesses are scaling back out of fear.
I want you to stop reacting to the fear and instead focus on what you can do to minimize the impact.
Instead of shrinking back, start being proactive, planning, taking the challenge head-on.
The best way to do that is to learn to work with your fears! Learn as much as you can about where that fear comes from and why you respond to it the way that you do.
I put together a masterclass to help you do exactly that.
Those who will pull through and thrive are the ones who will embrace the risk and find the opportunity for growth.
It’s time to put on your big girl pants and find out what risks you’ve been avoiding out of fear and how to finally handle them.
Because you’re worth it.
